Annika Sörenstam’s remarkable golf career has taken her around the world. She’s considered one of the greatest golfers of all time, with an impressive list of LPGA victories and smashed records. While she’s originally from Sweden, she’s traveled internationally for legendary wins and memorable vacations, bringing her husband and two kids with her.

“I don’t plan many actual ‘vacations,’” Annika said. “I always tie trips into our existing travel, usually around an event. A few years back, I played at an event in Sun City, South Africa. After the round, we flew to a private game reserve in the Kruger National Park. It was incredible and something we will never forget.”

"My husband and I love having the kids travel with us and try to take them as much as possible."

While Annika’s family enjoys international adventures, they also love exploring their hometown of Orlando. “Orlando is about as good as it gets for a family vacation,” said Annika. “You have three different theme parks, great golf, restaurants and shopping. You can easily spend a week here. There’s something for everyone here.”

Annika shared her recommendations for things to do on a family vacation to Orlando, whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town. Her first recommendation, of course, is golf. “Everyone in my family is active and likes being outdoors. My son, Will, loves to play golf, and Topgolf is great for everyone, whether or not you enjoy golf. It’s a fun, vibrant setting with great food and drinks. Plus, it’s covered so it’s fun even when the weather’s hot.”

Disney Springs is a nice spot outside of the theme parks,” she added. “There are a lot of great restaurants and shops. Winter Park is a hidden gem. It’s a lovely little area, perfect to stroll around and hit the farmers' market on the weekends. There are also amazing restaurants and shops there.”

And no Florida vacation is complete without a trip to the beach. “If you’re looking to get away, Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach are only an hour away,” said Annika. Head to the beach during the off-season and enjoy Central Florida’s year-round warm and sunny weather with less of a crowd.

So what’s the best part of exploring Orlando as a family? “I just enjoy being in new places with my family,” Annika said.
